2026 was my second year gardening for-reals.
In 2025, I started with chickens as well as grow bags and a couple of raised beds. It was great and also highly addictive.
2026 saw the addition of a few more raised beds around, a lot more flowers, and plants indigenous to the local area.
You might be aware of the enormous amount of food product recalls in the US this year and it will only get worse. I'm not one of those gardeners sitting smug on their high horse wagging their fingers at folks saying seeeeeeeeee?? I'm scared because I've realized through gardening and trying to reduce dependency on supermarket items that we depend SO MUCH on a system that is poisoning us with bacteria, chemicals, and yes - glass/wood chips. Yikes!
So, I think 2027 is going to be an even bigger garden and I'm trying to buy as much food from local farms as possible.
