Blaugust 2026 #2: Film Cameras
Using the Week #2 prompt line of "Introduce Yourself", here's something about me. I am a film photographer but also a camera collector. Not too many, but more than I can use at any one time. Which sometimes causes me a little stress (not a fan of having things around I don't use).
Here is what I'm currently using and loving:
MINT 670S SX-70: This polaroid camera re-engineered by mint camera can shoot all three types of film that polaroid makes (something no other polaroid camera can do). SX70, 600, and I-Type film. It's brilliant and I love it. Probably my favorite camera at the moment.
Rolleiflex MX: A cheaper rolleiflex but still quality. It starts conversations wherever I go which can be fun, unless I don't want to talk to any strangers haha Then I put this camera away!
Nikon FM2N: Reliable, dependable, has everything I wanted and nothing more. This camera is perfection. And I have all the Series E lenses which are also perfection.
LOMO MC-A: A new-to-me camera and a new-to-market camera. It's great to see new film cameras being made in this age. The MCA is very quirky but is super portable and has all the functions I need. I love it.
I have maybe a total of 30 cameras that I've hung onto over the years of trading. Some for sentimental value like the cameras from my mom and grandfather. Some for special use that don't get out too often like the pinhole, 127, 110, and APS cameras.
Photography has brought sooooo much to my life - adventures, people, expanding my creativity...it's been the one constant out of all the things I've done or been into.
And I hope it sticks around for a long time yet.
