Blaugust 2026 #4: Spooky Season TBR

It's spooky season in book world :) Well, who am I kidding, spooky season is all year here!

So, here's a few of the options I'm hoping to read before Halloween.

##SPOOKY SEASON TBR

I have a few more on my shelves that I'd like to read but if I can finish the ones above, I'll call that a win.

For the past year, I've been slowly inching my way towards reading more spooky/horror books and have been enjoying it for the most part. There are a couple of triggers that I won't read if I can avoid them. But those triggers show up across genres so I am careful to research content warnings before any book. Sometimes I miss one though and it's awful, digging up traumas that had settled.

And of course in the social book space, a lot of readers don't mind these triggers so they'll recommend books and rave about them and then I see those trigger warnings and it's disappointing that I won't share in that same enjoyment of reading that book. But I know it's not worth it for me. Why it's so important to always have trigger warnings and content flags for readers.
